Structural and Thermal Properties of Starch Plasticized with Glycerol/Urea Mixture

Abstract The paper presents the results of research on influence used plasticizing system structural and thermal properties thermoplastic starch (TPS). granulate was obtained by extrusion native in presence a using twin-screw extruder. Glycerol urea were as plasticizers various proportions. In order to evaluate effectiveness plasticization process, changes its chemical structure analyzed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC) X-ray diffraction (XRD). TPS stability determined thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). An improvement efficiency process has been found for urea-containing compared composition plasticized only with glycerol. addition, XRD confirms beneficial effect inhibition retrogradation process.
